Select Text

Select text items require users to select one or more words, phrases, or sentences from a passage by clicking or touching the chosen response. When answer options consist of words or phrases in the text, the initial appearance of the item shows those options highlighted or in bold font. Upon selection, item appearance changes to verify selection. Alternatively, if each sentence is a potential response, no highlighting or bold font appears until the user selects one of the sentences.

Select text items are accessible with audio presentation and switch responses online. Select text items can be rewritten as single or multiple select items for print and braille. To accomplish this, the response options within the text must be listed below the text with letters or radio buttons.
