Point and line graphing items require users to click or touch locations on a coordinate grid to plot points or draw lines. Similar items may require users to create dot plots or stem and leaf plots. Answers must be hand scored.
Graphing items are similar to constructed response items from the user’s perspective. Graphing items cannot be fully described with audio. Switches cannot be used for responding. The paper-and-pencil and braille formats of this item type require hand scoring. Like other constructed response items, graphing items are not suitable for optical scanning because they must be hand scored.
